WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

A complete wardrobe guide to help your family look effortlessly coordinated and camera-ready for your portrait session.

Choosing outfits for a family photo session can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. The key is to think in terms of a cohesive color palette rather than matching outfits. Here are my top recommendations for creating a beautifully coordinated look.

Start with a Color Palette

Choose two to three complementary colors as your foundation. Neutral tones like cream, beige, sage, and dusty blue photograph beautifully in natural light. Avoid bold patterns, neon colors, and large logos that can distract from the real subject — your family's connection.

Layer and Texture

Adding layers and different textures creates visual interest without being busy. Think linen shirts, knit sweaters, flowing dresses, and denim. The interplay of different fabrics adds depth to your portraits.

Dress for the Location

If we're shooting on the beaches of 30A, lighter fabrics and earth tones complement the sand and sea. For St. Louis park sessions, richer tones and layered looks work beautifully against the greenery.

The Client Wardrobe

As part of my full-service experience, you have complete access to my curated client wardrobe. This collection includes photo-worthy dresses and clothing for moms and children, taking the stress out of outfit planning entirely.

My Number One Tip

Comfort is key. When you feel good in what you're wearing, it shows in your photos. Choose outfits that let you move freely, sit on the ground, and chase your kids without worry.
